Claiming a Big Life at Any Age
Have you noticed the older you get and the more you know and understand about life, the less you feel valued or visible in society? The constant message to women of all ages is that appearance is the number one value, more than your intelligence, leadership or power.
In reality older women are more likely to be confident, know what they want and are freer of parenting responsibilities than ever before. Many think women are the hope for the world. The following tips encourage you to take yourself seriously:

Remember you are someone who is precious and valuable no matter what others say or have said.

Take time to think about what you want and risk thinking big. Just because you haven’t done it yet does not mean you can’t do it now.

Take control of your life instead of waiting for the right circumstances to appear.

Start liking your body just the way it is for a change!

Create positive support around you with other women (and men) through support groups, set goals, make plans and cheer each other on.

Take stock of your life and talk about or write down all your achievements. You are more competent than you realize – own it!

Invest some time in healing the big emotional issues that affect your self esteem. You don’t have to carry them around with you for the rest of your life.

Try something new – especially something active you may feel too old for!

It is OK to change your mind about anything –lifestyle, friends, activities etc. If you always do things the old way, it is hard to have a different outcome.

Make a life plan, and think big. A lot of energy is wasted not knowing what you want, or fearing making decisions. Decide, act and get support to keep going.

Or as Goethe said, “Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it”.
